Caleb Colburn was born on 12 December 1738 in Dracut, Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, the son of Moses and Deborah Wright.[1]
After his father died in 1742, Caleb and his younger siblings Mary and Abial requested Timothy Colburn as their guardian to represent them in the settlement of their father's estate.[2]
He married a woman whose name is unknown and lived in Tyngsboro. [3]

Caleb Coburn was among the "Second Enlisted Company of Chelmsford men, at Cambridge, which served from January 1776 to April 1776," serving under Capt. John Ford.[4]
He was in the Revolution, serving in 1776 in Capt. Ford's Company, Col. Robinson's Regiment, and in 1779 in Capt. Solomon Pollard's Company, Col. Samuel Denny's Regiment.[3]
