Charles Francis Cole was born on July 4, 1881 in Sandwich East Township, Essex, Ontario, Canada, son of Abraham Cole (1845– ) and Margaret McGuigan (~1852–1909).^[1]

In 1901, Charles F (19) was in the household of his father, Abraham, in Essex (north/nord), Ontario. ^[2]

Charles (25) married Josephine Ellen Lanigan (23) (born in 1883 in Chatham, Kent, Ontario; daughter of Henry Lanigan and Elizabeth (Martin) Lanigan) on February 5, 1907 in Chatham, Kent.^[3] Their children were:
