Biography

Comfort Coleman m. 1) Apr. 20, 1749 in Bolton, Conn., Crafts Goodrich, her 2nd cousin once removed, by whom she had six children b. of record in Bolton. Crafts d. in Sept. 1862 at Havana, Cuba as a combatant in the French and Indian War. Comfort m. 2) Sept. 23, 1767 in Bolton, Conn., the widower John Post, who d. May 26, 1773 in Hebron, Conn. One child of this second marriage.

John Post b. Nov 1723 at Hebron, married May 1750 w1. Catherine Northum of Cochester, she died Oct 1766, aged 33. Children with Catherine Northum

John Post died May 1773 at Hebron, aged 49. Josiah was 4, Comfort was his guardian. John's brother Jordan Post was guardian for (?Phebe was 13)

Comfort Coleman Goodrich Post, age 47, married William Wright, age 55, Oct 1774. William Wright died from smallpox April 1777.

It is often recorded on all genealogy tree sites that Comfort Post died 7 Jun 1774. This information comes from Massachusetts, U.S., Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988. pg. 21 "A List of Deaths in the town of Pittsfield" beginning 1764 thru 1815.

The entry: "1774 Jun 7 The Wife of William Wright departed this life, consumption" refers to William Wright's first wife, and mother of his children, Martha (LNAB unknown).

It is surprising researchers have not realized that Comfort could not have passed away in Jun 1774 and married William Wright in Oct 1774. He died of smallpox in April 1777. Comfort his name as his wife and heir in his will.
