Abigail Colgate was born 14 February 1819 at 7 Dutch Street in New York City to Bowles Colgate and Lourina Townsend.[1]
She married John Baker, an insurance company executive, also at 7 Dutch Street, on 23 March 1836.[1]
Their 1850 census in the 18th ward shows members of the family, Abigail's mother Lourina, and the widower of Abigail's sister Maria, Rev. Orrin B. Judd in the household.[2]
Abigail died 5 September 1881 at 209 W. 56th Street.[1] Her will was proved 7 October 1881.[3]

Paternal relationship confirmed by a triangulated group on 23andMe, consisting of Baker Salsbury, a great-grandchild of Gilbert Colgate and 5th cousin once-removed of Baker, and a great-grandchild of Clinton Gilbert Baker and 4th cousin once-removed of Baker, who share a 19.22 cM segment on chromosome 8. The most-recent common ancestors shared by all three are Robert Colgate and Sarah Bowles.
