Biography

Abigail Colgate was born 14 February 1819 at 7 Dutch Street in New York City to Bowles Colgate and Lourina Townsend.^[1]

She married John Baker, an insurance company executive, also at 7 Dutch Street, on 23 March 1836.^[1]

Their 1850 census in the 18th ward shows members of the family, Abigail's mother Lourina, and the widower of Abigail's sister Maria, Rev. Orrin B. Judd in the household.^[2]

Abigail died 5 September 1881 at 209 W. 56th Street.^[1] Her will was proved 7 October 1881.^[3]
