Biography

The daughter of William Coller and Ada (Caines) Coller, Ethel was born in Snover in 1892.[1] She lived there with her family.[2][3] She made her way west, residing in 1920 in San Francisco, in the household of Dr. Albion W. Hewlett, a physician at the University of California, for whom she worked as a maid.[4] In 1930, she lodged in an apartment house in San Francisco with William and Addie Robins, working as a public school teacher.[5] She taught school in San Francisco's public schools for 40 years,[6]returning to Michigan after her retirement in 1956. She then lived in Detroit and in Cass City.[6] She passed away at Provincial House in Deford, Michigan at the age of 95[7] and is buried with her family at Johnson Cemetery in Lamotte Township.[8]
