Note

The couple Joseph Collin-Marie Françoise Chouinard had two sons baptized and married under the name Sylvestre Colin. PRDH uses a copy of the register of Kamouraska that omitted the name of Sylvestre Colin's mother in the 1807 baptism but the Family Search copy does have her as Marie Chouinard and both copies name him a legitimate heir. PRDH names Sylvestre born in 1807 as an illegitimate heir of Joseph Colin in error.

Biography

Birth/Baptism

Sylvestre was the son of Joseph Colin and Marie Chouinard. He was born 23 Feb 1807 and was baptized the next day in St-Louis-de-Kamouraska. His godparents were Germain Roi and Veronique Tériau, no signatures. ^{[1] [2]}

Marriages

On 22 Feb 1841, in St-Jean-Port-Joli, Sylvestre Colin adult son of Joseph Colin and Marie Chouinard married Genevieve Bourgault adult daughter of Bénoni Bourgault and Genevieve Dubé. Witnesses were Jacob Chouinard uncle of the groom and Bénoni Bourgault named as uncle of the bride but could be an error and could be her father, no signatures. ^[3]

On 30 Jul 1844, in St-Jean-Port-Joli, Sylvestre Colin widower of Genevieve Bourgault married Julie Robichaud adult daughter of the late Joseph Robichaud and Josephte Jean. ^[4]

Death

Joseph Sylvestre Colin, 81 year old widower of Julie Robichaud, died 1 May 1890. He was buried 2 days later in St-Jean-Port-Joli cemetery. ^[5]
