There is a story about William Davis McDonald in the first Madison County History book. The first paragraph says: William Davis McDonald, born in 1840, died in 1916, was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama and came to the Palestine, Texas area about 1841 with his parents, James M. McDonald and Mary Collins, daughter of Wm. J. and Cynthia Collins. A brother and sister born in Texas were: James Martin McDonald, born 1842, died 1930, and Matilda J. McDonald, born in 1844. Their father died and their mother married a man named Boykin and had twin boys, Francis M. and John D., born 1846. Mary Collins McDonald Boykin died and these five young children were brought to Madison County before 1850 by their grandmother, Cynthia Collins, and their uncle, Louis Davis Collins, who reared the children. Louis Davis Collins served for a time as County Clerk of Madison County and then went to Jackson, Mississippi for his medical education.& nbsp; He returned to Madisonville and practiced medicine for a number of years before moving to Burnet County, Texas with his wife, Sara J. (Sally) and their family.

I would like to be in contact with descendants of Lewis D. Collins. I am quite confident that he is the younger half-brother of my ancestor Reverend Davis Collins. They were sons of Reverend Lewis Collins who died in Kershaw County SC in 1806. My ancestor Rev. Davis Collins was appointed guardian of his under-aged brother Lewis. In recent weeks I have pieced together several bits of information that strongly support my belief.
