On 23 January 1872 Mary Eliza Collins, then 18, wed her first husband Walter Llewellyn Francis (1848-1877) of the British India Office at Fort William. Bengal. India. From 1873 to 1878 she had 5 children by him, one son, David Llewellyn Francis (1874-1931) and 4 daughters. Walter died 29 Oct 1877 at Simla. Then widowed, she went on to marry Robert Laidlaw (1858-1915) on 29 Dec 1879 at Calcutta by whom she had a further 6 children. She died in Jamaica 4 Feb 1929 though her recorded place of residence at the time was Brixham, Devon and was interred at St. Luke's Cemetery, Bromley with husband Robert.
