The daughter of Johann Anton Colonius and Magdalena Deinzer, Louise was baptized "Barbara Louise Antonette Colonius" on 03 Apr 1864 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles, Missouri. Her sponsors were Wilhelm Birk and Barbara Geisert.
By 1870, Louise was living with Mathias Geisert and Barbara (nee Obrecht) Geisert in St. Charles, St. Charles, Missouri; Barbara Geisert had served as Louise's baptismal sponsor in 1864. Mathias was the brother of Amand Geisert.
Louise married William Vogt, Sr. on 26 Apr 1881 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Charles, St. Charles County, Missouri. He was the nephew of Barbara Geisert and was a farmer in St. Charles.
3 of Louise and William's 16 children died in early childhood. Their first child, Frances, lived for only 5 months in 1882. The family suffered an additional loss when their second child, William, died at the age of a year-and-a-half in 1884. Several years later in early 1891, another daughter, Emma, died when she was 13-months-old.
Despite their losses, 13 of their children were still alive by 1910. William continued to run the family farm in Portage Des Sioux, St. Charles County, Missouri.
Tragedy struck again, when Louise and William received notification that their son, Robert, had lost his life while serving overseas in World War I. He was 22-years-old when he was killed in action on 22 Jul 1918.
At the time of her death due to heart disease and diabetes, Louise was 72 years, 7 months and 4 days old. She was buried on 11 Feb 1936 and was preceded in death by her husband, William, who passed away in 1931.
