Ronald John Bilsland Colville was born in 1917. He was the son of David Colville and Agnes Bilsland.
Sir Colville fought with the Scottish Rifles (Camaroons). [1] He saw action at Dunkirk, in Italy, and participated in the Normandy landings, He was mentioned in dispatches. He received a Territorial Decoration.
Ronald married Joan Marguerita Booth in Ireland in 1946. [2]
Col succeeded as the 2nd Baron Clydesmuir, of Braidwood, Lanark on October 31, 1954.
He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel between 1967 and 1971 in the 6th/7th Cameronians (Territorial Army). [3]
