Biography
The daughter of Jacob Conard and Ann (Rickert) Conard, Kate was born in Center Square, where her father worked as a wheelwright,[1] in 1837. She had four siblings who died in infancy or early childhood. Catherine Conald married Charles Nassau Kugler (1834-1903), the son of George Kugler and Catherine Lebold, marrying in Trenton Township, New Jersey on March 25, 1855,[2]having four known children together.
In 1860, they lived in Washington, DC, where her husband worked as a confectioner; her sister, Elizabeth Conard, also lived in the household.[3] By 1870, the family had returned to Pennsylvania, residing in Philadelphia, where Kate and her son, Henry, worked with her husband in the confectionery business.[4][5] Catherine Kugler passed away in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the age of 62[6] and is buried at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Ambler, Pennsylvania.[7]
Research Notes
There are screen grabs of her brief obituary on Ancestry but no expanded image or source listing the location, only her residence as "Randall Street." Her husband's obituary from the following year cites Baltimore, Maryland as the location of his death.
