Biography

• Another researcher put a note on Ancestry.com that Albert was 10 years old when taken to an orphanage in 1900. His father, Frank, ran off abandoning wife and family and was never seen again.
• This does not make sense. Albert Henry was 20 years old when his younger siblings were place in the orphanage. It was Roy David Conklin, Mary Conklin and Ada Margaret Conklin who went to the Mother's Jewells Orphanage in York, York County, Nebraska. This happened in early 1900 after the mother Jerusha Anna died.
• Jerusha's other younger children by John Tammen also were sent to the orphanage; they were Ona, Lizzie, John Jr. and Katie. Katie grew up not knowing who her parents were. ^[1]

This is not Henry Albert Conklin. My grandfather was born Sept 1,1867 in Ottawa, Kansas and I have original documents to prove this. Henry lied about his age to get into the war. He put September 1,1883 on his military papers. Which was a lie he was to old to go into war. I have original documents that are over 100 years old in my procession. There was only one Henry Albert Conklin that was son to Frank Edward Conklin and Jerusha Wickman. Contrary to what some people believe my grandfather lived on his on at 8 years old and lived to be over 100. Why would any father leave an 8 year old to fend for theirselves. We will never know if Frank walked out on his family or not.
