Biography

James was born about 1800 and was a mariner.

Less than a year before he married Jane Masters, she gave birth to daughter Mary Ann Connelly Masters in August 1821 in Plymouth Dock, Devon.[1]

On March 5, 1822 he married Jane Masters in Stoke Damerel, Devon.[2]

Their daughter Mary Ann Connelly Master was baptised the very same day as their wedding - March 5, 1822.

By the 1841 Census, wife Jane and daughter Mary were living on their own -- no sign of James.

Research Notes

  • There was a 2 yr old James Connelly (Conly) buried in Stoke Damerel on Aug 3, 1825 - his residence was Pembroke Street - not sure if he was related in some way. A son perhaps?
  • For some reason, going forward, both Jane and her daughter began to use the surname NEAL in Census records.
