Biography

Lorentz was born in 1760. His first wife, Maria Elisabeth Zinck, died of complications from childbirth. (The child, Johann George, died at ~1 month old.) He then married Elizabeth Himmelman.

Lorentz and Elizabeth moved and bought properties near the mouth of Chezzetcook Inlet or Harbour.

Lorentz Conrad and Andrew Misener bought the "Murphy Grant" in the year 1805, paying 500 pounds sterling, this property being on the eastern side of, and near the entrance of, Chezzetcook Harbour and containing 500 acres (Book 37, Page 57) (Reg. 21 Nov. 1805)

In the same year, (1805) Lorentz Conrad bought and island in the Harbour of Chezzetcook containing about 40 acres for 30 pounds. (Book 37, Page 96) (Reg. 16 Oct. 1805)

In 1808, Lorentz Conrad bought from Brian Conroy of Halifax, two lots of land on the west side of and near the entrance to Chezzetcook Harbour, containing 350 acres for 420 pounds. (Book 38, Page 434) (Reg. 6 Dec. 1814)

In 1817, Lorentz Conrad bought a parcel of land on the eastern side of Chezzetcook Harbour, containing 350 acres for the sum of 250 pounds. (Book 44, Page 177) (Reg. 17 June 1817)

From the above land transactions, Lorentz Conrad's ~1250 acres of land cost 1200 pounds sterling. Thus it appears that Lorentz and his sons shared in the general prosperity of the early years of the 19th century. The war of 1812 created the requirement for supplies of all kinds, some of which were probably provided by Lorentz's family.

Elizabeth (Himmelman) Conrad bore two children after moving to Lower East Chezzetcook. She died in 1811 and was buried in a corner of their property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Lorentz by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Lorentz:

Conrad-3200 and Conrad-395 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles are both the husband of Elisabeth (Elizabeth) Himmelman Conrad (recently merged from 2 profiles).
