Biography

William Bernard Convery was born on 21 Jan 1902 in Illinois, United States, son of Thomas F. Convery (1869 - 1927) and Bridget Bertha Mowen (1872 - 1944). William was baptized on 15 February 1902.

In the 1920 census William (age 18) was the single son of Bertha Convery in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, United States.^[1]

In the 1930 census Wm (age 28), Type setter, was a single son at 502 1/2 N. Sixth Str., Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, United States.^[2]

On 16 February 1942, William Bernard Convery registered for the draft while living with his mother Bertha Convery at 1516 N. 11th Street in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois. He was 5 ft 5 3/4 inches tall, weighed 150 pounds, had blue eyes, blonde hair, and a light complexion. He worked for the Illinois State Register in Springfield.^[3]

William was married on 17 May 1947 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois to Gertrude Mabel Leahy.^[4]

William died on 11 Jul 1992 in Illinois aged 90.^[5]
