Joyce Aimie Rider age 84 of Crosby formerly of Garrison died on September 15, 2014 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. She was born on November 10, 1929 in Sartell to Howard and Ada (Randall) Cook. Joyce married Robert Rider Sr. on June 11, 1950 in Big Fork. She was a local Avon Representative for over 30 years. She was a member of the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood and the Garrison Lions Club. She was a lifetime member of the Garrison Commercial Club and a charter lifetime member of the Garrison VFW Auxiliary, post # 1816.
Survivors include 3 sons, Robert E. Rider of Audubon, Randy (Peggy) Rider of Merrifield and Terry Rider of Brainerd; 2 daughters, Candice “Candy” Field and NaDeen “Deenie” Barnum both of Crosby; 1 sister, Patricia Hein of Prescott Valley, AZ; 14 grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Robert Sr.; 4 brothers, Wayne, Dan, Howard Jr. and Jim Cook; 3 sisters, Gladys Reid, Lenora Johnson and Lillian Proell.
Funeral services will be 11 am on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Garrison Community Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 8 pm and on Friday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. If so desired, memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank. [1]
