- Note N612[Familytree1.GED] From the funeral program; Phillip T. Cook, age 81, Sentinel Butte, ND passed away on September 1, 2003. Phil was born on August 13, 1922 in Sentinel Butte, ND, oldest child of Taylor and Evelyn (Northrop) Cook. He was raised near, and educated at the Westerheim Grade School. and Sentinel Butte High School. He graduated from high school in 1941. Phil attended the CCC Camps at Ft. Buford, ND, Sidney, MT and Miles City, MT. After leaving the C.C.C. Camps, he came home to help his father at their ranch, then went to the Yukon Territory in Canada to work on the Alaska-Canadian Highway in 1942 and '43. Phil returned to Sentinel Butte where he met and married Mary C. Zinsli on April 18, 1944 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sentinel Butte. He worked for various grain elevators in the area and Purity Dairies in Glendive, MT before moving the family to Marion, Iowa in 1953. He began working as a truck driver for the next 28 years. He retired from driving truck in 1981 and he moved the family back to Sentinel Butte. Phil enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing cards, especially Pinochle. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Joe and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, four sons, Leo "Jack" Cook of San Diego, CA; David and Linda Cook of Tacoma, WA; Burt and Cheryl Cook of Fountain, CO; and Neal and Juli Cook of Las Vegas, NV; and three daughters, Jane Cook of Sentinel Butte; Judy and Terry Mollender of Johnstown, CO; and Donna and Greg Hickman of Peoria, AZ. Also sixteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and Phil is survived by 3 sisters, Rella, Merdythe, and Marlyn and his brother, Rex.
