Edward W. Cook, 86, of Walton passed away at home on Sunday morning, August 29, 2010, after a long illness.
Edward was born on August 11, 1924 in Rock Royal (Town of Tompkins) the son of the late Edward Cook and Lillian Hicks. He was a 1942 graduate of Deposit High School. On October 6, 1961 he married Blanche Cook; they were married for 48 years. He was employed for 38 years as an Equipment Operator for NYSEG..
He enjoyed history (especially the Revolutionary and Civil Wars), hunting, barbequing, feeding the birds and playing pitch. Ed was an avid NY Yankees fan for over 50 years; one of his fondest memories is of attending the 1998 World Series in the Bronx..
Ed is survived by his three daughters, Rosolyn (Lyndon) Doig, Walton; Kathleen (Charles)Grossmann, Walton; Melissa (Gregory) Cook Candela, South Salem, New York; seven grandchildren, Angela, Gregory, Heather, Amy, Sheila, Teela, and Amber; nine great-grandchildren, Forrest, Taylor, Nicholas, Noah, Quinn, Lucas, Dakoda, Darin, and Haley; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Iona in 1959; his second wife, Blanche in 2009; his sons, Terry in 1952, and Gary in 1979; and one brother, Senator Charles D. Cook, in 2001..
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM, September 1, 2010 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, where services will be held on Thursday morning, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Bert More officiating..
