Bruce served in WWI, enlisting in the 30th Reinforcement Field Artillery shortly after his 20th birthday in 1917. His service number was 37387, and n arrival in England he was assigned as a Gunner to the 5th Divisional Ammunition Column and deployed to France[1]
Bruce married Minnie Borthwick in Christ Church, Dungog on 6 Feb 1922.[2]
