Arthur Blain Cook was born on July 14, 1887 in South Melbourne, Colony of Victoria, son of William John Cook (1845–1924) and Helen Elizabeth Lowrie (1863–1919).^[1]

Arthur (26) married Elizabeth Elsie Werner (19) (born in 1893 in St Leonards, New South Wales; daughter of Francis Henry Werner and Ann Elizabeth (Horner) Werner) on November 15, 1913 in Chatswood, New South Wales.^[2] Their children were:
