In a letter from Roy Walker (Nellie Cooper's son) Sept 12, 1991, transcribed by Deborah Fitzwater "...joined the army while young and served all over the world, mainly India and Egypt. He came back to a home barracks in Weedon, Northamptonshire and eventually married a local girl and produced 4 children. His wife died before the children were grown up. After some years he married a Birmingham lady, Dolly, who already had a daughter. He served his time and left the Army but remained on the reserves to increase his pension. So when the 2nd World War started in 1939, he was soon recalled but as he was now around the 40 mark, he was made an officer's batman, spent most of the war in Egypt."
William was born about 1903. He is the son of William Cooper and Minnie Evans. [1]
