1858: Living Trust Deed of William G. Corker
Louisa County, Virginia, Deed Book EE (p. 186), 25 January 1858. William G. Corker was the husband of Susannah A. Tate 4.12, who is also named in this Deed.
Whereas William G. Corker after all his just debts are paid up to this date is willing and desirous of securing all his property to his wife Susan and her children so long as she may live for their support and after her death to her children forever. Now this deed entered into this 25th day of January 1858 Between the aforesaid W. G. Corker of the first part Col. Stephen Farrar of the second part and the said Susan Corker of the third part: Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Premises and the further consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said W. G. Corker and for the further consideration of the love and affection which he the said W. G. Corker bears for his said wife and children, he the said W. G. Corker hath granted unto the said Stephen Farrar the following property To Wit. One certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Louisa adjoining the lands of Dr. Wm. Meredith, the lands of Lancelot W. Hill & others it being the same tract or parcel of land which he the said W. G. Corker purchased of Ambrose Lacy and others containing 68 acres to be the same more or less. Also all his stock & horses, cows and hogs, household and Kitchen furniture and plantation utensils, upon trust for the benefit of her the said Susan Corker and her children so long as she may live and at her death to her children forever, it is under and agreed that the said Stephen Farrar (if he undertakes this trust, if not the ? whom the Court may appoint in his stead) shall have the free and complete control of the aforesaid property to manage it as he may think best for the interest of the said Susan & her children so long as she may live and at her death to relinquish it to her children. It is also understood that nothing made upon the said property shall be liable for any debts which the aforesaid W. G. Corker may at any time contract after this date and it is further understood and agreed that should the said Susan Corker at any time be willing and desirous of exchanging the aforesaid tract of land for any other tract or parcel of land she shall be at liberty to do so with the consent and approbation of the said Stephen Farrar provided the tract of land so received to the said Susan Corker and her children in like manner that the aforesaid tract is secured to them and the exchange shall take place in the manner to wit: two disinterested persons shall be selected by the parties to say in writing upon what terms the exchange shall take place, the said writing shall be recorded with the _ (sic) and made for the conveyance of the aforesaid tract of land to the individual with whom the exchange shall be made. And the aforesaid W. G. Corker doth hereby warrant a good title to the said tract of land to the said Stephen Farrar free from all incumbrances: Witness the following signatures and sea
