Biography

The son of Ichabod Corwin and Sarah Griffin, James Harvey Corwin was born 22 Jan 1803 in Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio.[1] From documents, it appears he preferred to go by Harvey.

Harvey was a farmer.[2]

He died in Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio on 26 Dec 1867 from a broken neck suffered after falling from the abutment of a bridge to the ground. More than likely he was intoxicated at the time of his death.

Marriage and Children

Harvey married Mary Dunham in Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio on 28 Jan 1829. They divorced 29 Aug 1856.

Note: Divorce papers state Harvey was violent and intoxicated most of the previous 5 to 6 years before divorce was granted.

"Death from a Fall.
On last Thursday morning the dead body of Harvey Corwin was found at the bridge at the foot of Main street, in this place. Coroner White was called to hold an inquest over the body. The report of the jury was that death was caused by a fall from the abutment of the bridge to the ground, a distance of about ten feet. The neck was broken by the fall. The deceased was about sixty years of age. He resided in Morrow and was at the time on a visit to Lebanon. It is supposed that he was intoxicated at the time of his death. His funeral took place on Friday, at the Baptist Church. Services by Rev. J. H. Jenkins."
