Biography

Matthias, son of Matthias & Mary (Aldrich) Corwin was born in 1732, and died 10 Jun 1801. He married 1) Naomi Davis, in 1754 ;2) Elizabeth __, who was born in1728 & died 1 Jun 1783. One child, Elizabeth. is listed.

"On census list, 444, in 1776, (or 1766 ?) having in family one male, one female over sixteen, and one child."^[1]

Mattathias Corwin was born in 1732 and died 10 Jun 1801 (aged 68–69). He was buried in the Baiting Hollow Cemetery in Baiting Hollow, Suffolk County, New York.

Research Note

The grave stone shown at FAG 60923801seems to read: "Wife of Mattathias" and it seems to match the stone & the spelling on the stone for this Matthias and so is probably his wife's, Elizabeth Unknown (1728–10 Jun 1783)..

Taylor agrees with the dates, places & parents for Matthias but lists only one wife, Naomi Dains (sic), and four children:
