Biography

1776 Project
Lieutenant Timothy Cossitt served with 18th Regiment, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.

Timothy was born in 1754. He was the son of Timothy Cossitt and Mary Unknown.

Lt. Timothy Cossitt was a Veteran of the Revolutionary War. Regiment: 18th Regiment of Militia (Commanded by Jonathan Pettibone). Captain Samuel Hays (Hayes) Company, from August 22 to September 6, 1776, serving in New York.

He married Chloe Buttolph (Battles) (1756–1839). They had the following children:

He passed away in 1836. Buried at Pompey Hill Cemetery, Pompey, Onondaga County, New York.

He signed his will 5 Sep 1833 in the town of Pompey, Onondaga County, New York,[2] naming wife Chloe, son Calvin, daughter Chloe Willcox, daughter Polly Handy, daughter Constantia Dyer, grandchild Nancy Partridge, grandchild Miranda Hopkins, and daughter Arley Smith. On 21 Aug 1837, heirs at law and their residence included:
