Biography

Sydney Herbert Cottle was born on 28 October 1855, his birth being registered at Dolmeads, Bath, Somerset, in the last quarter of that year^[1]. He was the son of James Cottle and Caroline Newman.

He was baptised on 18 November 1855 at Widcombe, Somerset^[2].

Sydney Cottle migrated from England to New Zealand.

Sydney emigrated from England to New Zealand with his parents circa 1856.

He married Isabella Florence Palmer on 7 December 1881 at Beresford Street Church, Auckland^[3].

They went on to have about seven children.

In the 1896 New Zealand, Electoral Rolls (1853-1981), Sydney Herbert Cottle was recorded living at Taupaki in the Waitemata district, Auckland with his wife Isabella Cottle. He was a Settler.

In the 1911 New Zealand, Electoral Rolls (1853-1981), Sydney Herbert Cottle was recorded living at Waipapakauri in Northland, working as a gumdigger.

Sydney passed away on 9 November 1927 and was buried on 11 November 1927 at Shannon Cemetery, Shannon, Horowhenua District, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand^[4]. PLOT: General Block D, Plot no. 45
