Birth

Ellen Jane Coulter was born on June 21, 1871 in Belfast, Ireland. She is the daughter of Richard Coulter and Mary (Gordon) Coulter.

Throughout her life she was variously called Sarah, Sally or Cissie. When she died, as the last of her family, the name Sarah Jane was added to the headstone on the family plot in Belfast City Cemetery.

1901 Census of Ireland

On census day March 31, 1901, Sara Coulter was living with her parents and three unmarried siblings at Donegall Avenue in the St Anne's ward of Belfast.^[1]
