A record shows the marriage of "William F. Cowan" and "Donnie M. Sloan" on 6 August 1885 at Ashland, Ohio. The initials apparently stood for nothing - totally meaningless! This marriage ended in divorce sometime before 1898, when Donna Sloan remarried at Rankin, Pennsylvania.

William Cowan also appears to have remarried, had a child, then died in 1945 and was buried at Ashland, Ohio, according to www.finadagrave.com.
