Biography
Lilias was born in 1850 in York, Western Australia.[1] She is the daughter of Walkinshaw Cowan and Elizabeth Dyer.
She was a schoolmistress. Lilias conducted a ladies seminary at Perth from 1868 and at Fremantle 1876-1887, with the help of her sisters Agnes 1840-1901 (retired to Albany), Jessie who m. Hillman , and Annie as housekeeper.[2]
