William Cowden was born about 1782 in South Carolina, United States.^[1][2][3]

He married Catharine Yates in 1812.^[3]

In the 1850 US census, William Cowden (age 68) and wife Catharine Cowden (61) were living in Baird, Jefferson, Alabama, with children Robert L (23), William D (20) and Nancy (17), and with Sarah Henderson (40). He was a farmer.^[1]

In the 1860 US census, William Cowden (age 78) was living in Jefferson, Alabama, with his daughter Nancy Miles (26), and her family.^[2]

William Cowden, born 1782, died in 1878. He was buried at Remlap Methodist Church Cemetery, Remlap, Blount County, Alabama, United States.^[3]
