Biography
Colby was born on 21 November 1792 in Green County, Kentucky. He was the son of James Cowherd and Ann Young.
He and Sarah Buckner were married on 19 October 1814 in Green County, Kentucky by John Chandler[1][2]
They were the parents of at least the following children:
- Richard Hill Cowherd
- Lucinda Jane Cowherd
- George Robard Cowherd
- Joseph W Cowherd
- William Thomas Cowherd
Colby wrote his will on 10 October 1866. He died probably during the month of August 1871 as his will was produced in court on 30 August 1871.
Research Notes
The FG memorial gives his death date as 26 September, however based on the date his will was produced in court, his death date was before 30 August 1871.
