Benjamin Cowl was born 11 March 1763. Family lore has that Benjamin lied about his age to fight in the Revolutionary War. He passed away 31 Dec 1851. He is buried in the Maple Avenue Cemetery, Putnam County, New York, United States.
On August 18, 1947, an oil portrait of Benjamin Cowl created by artist Linn Ball was given to Allison Dodd. The painting now hangs in the home of Stephen Cowl Dodd.
