William Crane was born in Lancashire, England.

William Crane (35) married Mary Parkinson (32), daughter of Joseph Parkinson, on 15 April 1845 at St John’s Church, Preston, Lancashire.^[2]

The 1851 census lists William Crane as a 41 year old shoemaker living in Bispham with Nortreck, Lancashire with his wife Mary (37) and daughters Margaret (4) and Mary Ann (0).^[3]

The 1871 census lists William Crane as a 61 year old grocer living in Bispham,Bispham with Norbreck, Lancashire with his wife Mary and daughters Margaret and Mary Ann and a boarder William White.^[4]

The 1881 census lists William Crane (72, born in Carleton, Lancashire) living with his wife Mary (69, born in Preston, Lancashire) at Bispham with Nortreck, Lancashire. He is a farmer of 8.5 acres and a grocer.^[5]
