James Monroe Crawford was born January 27, 1817, in Tennessee, a son of James Crawford, who came to Montgomery County, Illinois, in the fall of 1829, and made a settlement on Section 34, Zanesville Township. James lived and died on his farm, where he and his wife, Susan Alvira Thompson, raised eight children. [1]
James died July 23, 1882, at the age of 65 years and is buried in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery, in Honey Bend, Montgomery county, Illinois. [2]
