Biography

Margery Cresswell's date and place of birth and parentage are unknown. Based on the reported date of her marriage, Margery was probably born about 1530.

Both the published St.Peter's parish marriage register and Boyd's (probably based thereon), show that Margery married Thomas Waring on 8 September 1551 in St.Peter's parish, Wolverhampton.^{[1] [2]} This marriage date is problematic, however, because (i) it results in a 12-year gap between Thomas's first marriage and his second, with only 1 recorded birth/baptism in the gap period, and (ii) since that marriage date suggests that Thomas was born in 1524-1530, it creates a gap of 8 years between the birth of Thomas and the baptism of his next older sibling. It is possible that either (i) the marriage date was improperly transcribed and was, perhaps, 1561 or (ii) less likely, the Thomas Waring who married Margery Cresswell was a different Thomas Waring.

According to Boyd's, Thomas and Margery had a son John. ^[2]

Assuming that the Thomas Warings are the same, Margery Cresswell must have died sometime before 3 September 1563, as Thomas married Elizabeth James on that date in St.Peter's parish, Wolverhampton. ^{[1] [3] [4] [5]}
