Biography

John Haynes Crocker was born on 8 Jan 1925 at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. His parents were Frank H Crocker & Grace Irene (Gillespie) Crocker.

In the 1930 census John (age 6) and siblings Ruth (age 16), Frank (age 15), Dick (age 13), Mary E (age 8) and Thomas (age 1) were in the home of their parents, Frank Crocker (age 40) and Grace Crocker (age 36) at Middletown, Butler, Ohio, United States.^[1]

In the 1940 census John (age 15) and siblings Thomas (age 11), William (age 9) Carol Jean (age 6), and Frank (age 25) were in the home of their parents, Frank Crocker (age 50) and Grace Crocker (age 46) at Middletown, Butler, Ohio, United States.^[2]

He grew up at Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School in 1943. Junior and senior photos are seen in the yearbooks of 1942 and 1943.^[3][4]

He married Betty Jane Highley about 1948. John H Crocker is residing with his parents at 2403 Central Avenue in the 1947 city directory of Middletown, Ohio. He and his father Frank were taxi drivers for '77 Taxi' Company.^[5] By 1949 John H Crocker is seen residing with Betty at 2000 Woodlawn Avenue. They are homeowners and Jack was employed as a technician at Armco Steel Company.^[6]

A daughter was born in 1950. By 1951 Betty, Jack & daughter have moved to 2133 Lamberton Street. They are still home owners. Jack is employed by GS&C company.^[7] By 1953 they were homeowners at 2107 Logan Avenue. Jack was a city policeman. ^[8]

In 1955 Betty and Jack must have separated for a time. Betty was seen as a credit interviewer at Sears and residing at 3108 Lefferson Road while Jack was a salesman for Ross Motors Inc. and was renting a home at 3117 Mohawk.^[9] By 1956 Betty and Jack were back together and residing at 207 Lyburn Road. Jack was back with the city police and Betty was a waitress at 'The Meadows'.^[10]

From 1957 to 1959 they were renters at 1924 Fernwood. Jack continued with the city police and Betty continued her waitress job.^[11]

In 1963 a second daughter was born. Both daughters are still living in 2021.

Jack and Betty are seen in more recent public records residing at Monroe, Butler County, Ohio.^[12][13]

Jack passed away (age 69) on 23 Jul 1994 at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. ^[14] He was buried at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Butler county, Ohio. ^[15]

Betty continued to reside at Monroe after Jack's death. She pased away (age 82) on 20 Dec 2010 at the Atrium Medical Center, Middletown. ^[16] She was buried beside Jack at Woodside Cemetery and her obituary provides many more details into her life. ^[17]
