Biography

Martin Cromer was John George Cromer's only son born in America. In contrast to his German-born brothers Andrew and Michael, who were Loyalists, he served as a Private in the SC Militia in the Regiment of Col. Philemon Waters. He passed away in 1823. [1]

Martin died intestate in 1823. He left a widow, Mary, and nine children - John, David, Henry, Mary (Ringer), William, Ephraim, Jacob, Martin, and Lewis. The last three were minors. He left approximately 336 acres of land. The estate was settled in 1825. John Suber was appointed guardian of the three minor children. Ephraim died young and unmarried, and his mother and siblings shared his portion of the estate. (Entered 2 July 2016 by RHT)
