Thur., Jan. 1, 1987 THE TIMES DEATH RECORD BURNETTE B. NICHOLS, 82 and former New Buffalo City treasurer died Saturday, Dec. 27,at mercy-memorial Medical Center in St. Joseph. The funeral was Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Smith Funeral Home in New Buffalo. The Rebekah Lodge, which she was a member of, conducted rites on Tuesday and burial was in Schoolcraft. Memorials were made to New Buffalo Ambulance. Mrs. Nichols was born July 15, 1904, in Three Rivers. She served as New Buffalo City treasurer for 15 years before resigning in 1973 and had worked as a bookkeeper for New Buffalo Ambulance. She was the past president of Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include three sons, Jon of St. Joseph, Frank of Fort Wayne, IN., and Charles of Michigan City, IN.: 3 grandchildren: a sister Doris Gilchrist of Three Rivers. Her husband, Charles preceded her in death in 1977
Mrs. Nichols three boys Jon, Charlie and Frank grew up in New Buffalo. In Three Rivers high school Burnette was very active in school events, she was on the basket ball team , track team, glee club, ass't art editor.
The Colvin and Crose family in 2013 started telling me that Burnette Crose and Doris Crose were not sisters, and that Doris was really Burnette's daughter.
