William H. “Bill” Cross, 81 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, February 18th, 2016 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Bill was born in the Susie Community of Wayne County, Kentucky on November 21st, 1934, son of the late William Hardy and Nannie Bell Cross. Bill was a member of the Wayne County High School Class of 1952. Bill was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Navy. He was a retired conservation officer. Bill was an avid member of Slate Branch Baptist Church, serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Bill was survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Rosemary Correll Cross, whom he married in Monticello, Kentucky on December 8th, 1955; two sons, Gary Cross of Whitley City, Kentucky and Danny (and Marsha) Cross of London, Kentucky; two brothers, Lyle (and Judy) Cross of Monticello, Kentucky and Arthur (and Becky) Cross of Ohio; two grandchildren, Kelli (and Andy) Fisher of Somerset, Kentucky and Whitney (and Chris) Schumacher of London, Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Blakelynn Fisher and Lily Fisher; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Hardy Cross, who departed this life on May 24th, 1970 and Nannie Cross, who departed this life on April 16th, 2000; three brothers, Bud Cross, Jim Cross, and Jay Cross; and one sister, Faye Stinson.

Visitations were held after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19th, 2016 at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at the Slate Branch Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Dawson officiating.

Burial followed in the Slate Branch Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
