DENNIS CURRAN BIRTH REGISTRATION

Dennis, for some time his spelt name with only 1 "n"; he taught himself how to write by putting down his day to day life in a diary for five years. That diary is now in the University of New England at Armidale, New South Wales, Australia; Numerous people have transcribed it over the years, as it is filled with a lot of personal history it s a shame he stopped writing it.

Marriage

He stopped about the same time he married Elizabeth English.

Dennis Curran married Elizabeth English on November 9, 1895 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hillgrove, New South Wales, Australia. [1]

He grew up farming and mining with his father, and around 1880, he moved with his family, except his stepmother, Mary Anne, commonly known as Anne, from Victoria to New South Wales, where he continued farming and mining.

He worked for a long time for at least two of the many mining companies, Bakers Creek and the Eleanora mining companies of Hillgrove, New South Wales, Australia.

Life was not all smooth sailing as three years after arriving in New South Wales, the family lost their youngest stepbrother, James when he fell of a horse and was killed, at the tender age of 11 years old.

As Dennis got older, he also became an inventor, he invented an Apparatus for Separating the Laying Hens from the Non-Laying Hens in a Poultry Yard and For Other Purposes. [2]

He also invented an Automatic gate - Opening and Closing Means. [3]
