Charles Alfred was the son of Benjamin Franklin and Mary (Kinloch) Currier. and the brother of Anna Amanda, Mary Helen, Luella, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Edwin, Jennie Etta, and Lottie May. He was born in New York in 1853. His father was a painter in Rensselaer County, New York. Charles married Martha Hoag, and they had one daughter, Annie. His second wife was Laura Sampson. They had two sons, John Alfred and Robert Henry. Laura died when she was 32 years old, and Charles married Charlotte Strait. Charles died of heart disease when he was 54 years old.
