Biography

The son of Thomas Curry (b. Gore, Québec, 1842-1917) and Catherine Josephine Schenberger (1853-1934), Thomas was born in Tawas Township in 1887.[1] His father, the son of Irish immigrants to Canada and who immigrated to the United States in 1866, settled in Tawas, Michigan, in Iosco, County to farm.[2] His siblings included:

  1. Charles Curry (1874-1933)
  2. Vina May Curry (1878-1931)
  3. Lillian Currey (1881-1965)
  4. Waldo I. Curry (1884-1959)
  5. Johanna Helen Curry (1893-1980)

Thomas married Harriet (McAuliff) Curry in East Tawas on January 4, 1911.[3] He registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, and claimed a physical debility. He was described at a tall, slender man with dark brown hair and blue eyes.[4]

They made their home in Lapeer, Michigan where, in 1920, Thomas was not employed.[5] They moved back to East Tawas before 1930, and Thomas began an ice delivery service.[6] Sometime before 1940, the family went west, settling in Seattle, Washington, where Thomas operated a fuel delivery service.[7] He registered for the draft again when he was 54, registering in Seattle on April 25, 1942. He stated that his employment was with the Army Transport Service, and he was described at that time as being 5'10" tall and 185 pounds, with a scar on the back of his left hand and on his left middle finger, and a birthmark under his left eye.[8]

He passed away in Everett, Washington at the age of 73.[9]
