LEMUEL CURTICE,[1][2] baptized at Topsfield, Massachusetts, 27 Jun 1756 son of Jacob Curtice and Mary Stiles;[3] Lemuel died at Antrim, 25 Jun 1837;[4] married at Amherst, 9 Feb 1779,[5] MARY SMITH, born at Amherst, New Hampshire, 6 Nov 1753[6] daughter of John Smith and Anna Davis;[7] Mary died at Antrim, New Hampshire, 18 Jun 1821.[8]
Lemuel Curtice resided on the border near the town of Antrim, New Hampshire. Lemuel and his brother came together to Antrim in 1784 and settled near Windsor Mountain.[9] In 1800, Lemuel Curtis headed a household of ten persons at Antrim: one male 26 to 44, one female 45 and over, one male under 10, two males 10 to 15, one female under 10, one female 10 to 15, and three females 16 to 25.[10]
On 6 July 1819, Lemuel Curtis resident of Antrim in the sixty-fourth year of his age made application for a pension based on his service in the Revolution. In the first part of February 1776, he enlisted as a private in the company of Capt. Daniel Wilkins in the regiment of Col. Bedel of the New Hampshire line and served until the beginning of 1777 when he was honorably discharged. On 12 July 1820, he provided further information on his circumstances. He reported no property of any kind. He was a laborer by trade but unable to work due to infirmity. Lemuel was awarded a pension. After his death on 23 June 1837, the arrears of his pension were paid to his estate administrator.[11]
Lemuel Curtice did not leave a will and his son Lemuel Curtice was named administrator of his estate on 5 February 1839. Lemuel reported his father left no widow.[12]
Mary Smith and Lemuel Curtice were parents of six children born at Antrim.
i MARY CURTICE, b. 1781; d. at Windsor, NH, 25 May 1855; m. at Antrim, 30 Dec 1824, JOHN A. LYON, b. in MA, 1777; John d. at Windsor, 22 Mar 1853. In 1850, Mary and John were living in Windsor with Mary’s sisters Anna and Hannah in the home with them.[13]
ii ANNA CURTICE, b. 1783; d. at Windsor, NH, 1 Dec 1861; m. at Antrim, 7 Apr 1816, her first cousin, LEVI CURTIS, b. about 1790 son of Stephen and Bridget (Smith) Curtice; Levi d. at Saranac, NY, 23 Nov 1867. Levi left Anna after the deaths of several children[14] and he had a second marriage to Fanny Lyon about 1822.

v DAVID CURTICE, b. 1791; d. at Windsor, NH, 26 Oct 1880; m. 1st BETSEY SWETT, b. 1790 daughter of Jonathan and Lydia (Huntress) Swett; Betsey d. at Windsor, 18 May 1817. David m. 2nd at Windsor, 17 Oct 1820, Betsey’s sister, SARAH “SALLY” SWETT, b. 1787; Sarah d. at Windsor, 8 Oct 1857.
vi HANNAH CURTICE, b. 1792; d. at Windsor, 16 Dec 1883. Hannah did not marry.
