Childhood

Sarah (Curtin) Hay was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)
Sarah Jane Curtin was born at Armidale, NSW on 10 March 1874, the daughter of Susannah Melanphy and Peter Curtin.[1] Sarah was the eighth of their fourteen children.

Married Life

Sarah Jane Curtin, daughter of Susannah Melanphy and Peter Curtin, married Alexander Hay, son of Anne Battersby and Joseph Onghai Hay, at Bundarra, NSW on 6 Jul 1896.[2] Their children may have included:
  1. Mildred V Millicent Hay (1897–1918)[3]
  2. Vere A Hay (1899–1971)[4][5]
  3. Geoffrey J Hay (1902–1981)[6][5]
  4. Mel... Hay (1905–?)[7]

    MRS. ALEX. HAY.
    --------
    The death occurred at Tingha Cottage Hospital on Monday last of Mrs. Hay, wife of Mr. Alex. Hay, of Old Mill, after an illness extending over a fortnight, the cause of death being a stroke. Mrs. Hay, who was 53 years of age, was a native of Tingha and had lived in this district all her life. She leaves a husband and four children, viz., Vere and Geoffrey (Cessnock), Beryl and Mavin (Old Mill) and for these the deepest sympathy is felt in the loss of a fond wife and loving mother.
    The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, the remains being interred in the Church of England portion of Tingha cemetery, where Rev. G. H. Rae conducted the burial service
