Daniel Cushing was born in Hingham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony and was baptized by Rev. Hubbard of the Church of Hingham on July 23, 1648. [1] His parents were Daniel Cushing and Lydia Gilman Cushing.
Daniel married Elizabeth Thaxter, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Jacob) Thaxter on December 8, 1680. She was born in Hingham on February 19, 1660/61. [1][2] Daniel was thirty-two and Elizabeth was nineteen.
Daniel and Elizabeth had 10 children and remained in Hingham.
Daniel was a weaver. He served as constable in 1684. The family lived opposite the paternal homestead on Main Street below "Pear Tree Hill." [1][3]
No record has been found for the birth of Daniel, but he was baptized on July 23, 1648. In that area and time, children were generally baptized within a week after birth.
