Esther Ruhamah Cutter was was born at Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 27, 1765, the daughter of Ammi Cutter and Esther Pierce. [1]
Esther married Ebenezer Hall on March 26, 1787 at Cambridge. Ebenezer was born at Cambridge or Arlington, Massachusetts on December 24, 1762, son of Thomas Hall Jr. and Rebecca Cutter. [1][2][3]
Her husband Ebenezer received shares from his father Thomas Hall Jr,'s estate [4] and lands from his grandfather Thomas Hall Sr.'s estate, of which he and his brother Thomas were executors. [5]
Her father Ammi Cutter died in 1795. On April 21, 1795, Ebenezer Hall was one of the heirs to his estate, acknowledging that Benjamin Cutter should be appointed estate administrator. On November 30, 1795, heirs acknowledged prior receipts from Ammi Cutter, during his lifetime. Ebenezer Hall was among the signers, noting Esther had previously received L36 from her father. [6]
All the real estate of Ammi Cutter, except that in the widow's dower, was divided among six of his sons and they were to pay their other brothers and sisters from their shares. James Cutter was to pay his sister Esther the sum of $132. 59 and Benjamin Cutter to pay Esther $4. 80, as her share. On December 2, 1795, Ebenezer Hall acknowledged receipts of the same from James and from Benjamin, as Esther's full share of her father's estate. [6]
After Ammi Cutter's widow Hannah died, the heirs, including Ebenezer Hall nominated James Cutter to administer her estate and distribute her dower rights. The widow's dower was appraised at $2,440.62. On November 6, 1800, James was ordered to pay the each of the heirs $152.34 including his sister Esther. [6]
