Gregorius Dagsson was one of the military and political leaders of king Inge Krokrygg Haraldsson from the early 1150s onwards.
His mother was Ragnhild Skoftesdotter of the Giske family, and her father, Skofte Ogmundsson, was the cousin of king Olav Haraldsson Kyrre.
He is described in Heimskringla as first in ruling the country alongside king Inge (who gained the throne in 1154).
He was behind the deaths of brother kings Sigurd Haraldsson Munn and Øystein Haraldsson.
Gregorius died in battle on the ice outside of Konghelle in january 1161. His body was taken home and buried in Gimsøy monastery, which was run by his sister Baugeid.
