Biography
Carl Peter Dahlgren was born on 27 Feb 1816 in Mjölby parish in Östergötlands län, Sweden.
He married Helena Håkansdotter on November 5, 1843. She was four years younger than him and born in Höreda parish. They had two sons born in Mjölby:
- Carl August/Charles Augustus Dahlgren (1844 - 1928)
- Anders Peter Dahlgren b. 1850.
He emigrated with wife and children to the United States. They are noted to have left on July 20, 1852.[1]
They had daughter
- Selma Ellen (Dahlgren) McClure (1858 - 1917).
Carl Peter died on 19 Mar 1896 aged 80. He is buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Davis County, Iowa.
Charles Dahlgren was born in 1816 in Sweden[2] to Carl Dahlgren and Greta Larsdotter.
Charles married Helena Bergen in Sweden in 1824.
According to the 1860 census, Charles lived with Helena and their children, Charles, Selma, and Albertina in Appanoose County, Iowa.[2]
Charles died on March 19, 1896. He is buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa.[3]

- Found the family in Swedish records in Mjölby thanks to his son Charles/Carls birth date.
- He can't have married Helena Bergen in 1824. He was 8 years old at the time.
