William Daniel was born in 1754 in Prince Edward, Virginia, the son of James Daniel and Jean Kelso. He married Hannah Cunningham on December 6, 1779, in Charlotte, Virginia. He then married Sarah Pettus on August 29, 1807, in Wilkes, Georgia. He died in 1815 in Greene, Georgia, at the age of 61.
