Biography

According to the 1860 Federal Census, William was born in March 1853 in England.[1] The marriage of William Henry Daniels to Magdalena Boul occurred on 15 April 1879 in St. Clair County, Illinois. This record shows William's parents were Isaac Daniels and Elisabeth Fletcher. Magdalena's parents were Chrysosthome Boul and Mary Ann Dahm. [2] William and his father were both coal miners. In the 1880 census he is listed as 'engineer', presumably a mining engineer in his father's mine.[3] William and Magdalena (aka Lena) had a possible total of at least five children that we know about, only two of which lived past infancy. Church records exist for four of these. Anna died in 1885 and John in 1890. A third child died in 1887 and is marked with a headstone inscribed "child of Wm H Daniels". This may be another William H Daniels as no church record was found for this fifth child. Magdalena died while giving birth to John and the two are buried together in Green Mount Cemetery in St. Clair County Illinois. Mary and her sister Emma are the only two children who lived past infancy. William disappeared from the record and the two girls were raised by their grandparents, Chris and Mary Ann Boul. William finally reappears on 28 Jan 1908 in the Edwardsville Intelligencer where an article reports that his mother's will "provides for her son" (William). He is said to be living in Clinton Illinois at the time. No death date or place has been found as of 2016.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
